Computer Network and Web Technicians
As a Computer Network and Web Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of computer networks and web-based systems within an organization. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical tasks related to network administration, troubleshooting, and web development. You will work closely with other IT professionals to provide reliable and efficient network connectivity and support web-based applications.
Responsibilities:
- Network Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, and internet systems.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure maximum network uptime.
- Perform regular network maintenance tasks, such as backups, software updates, and security patches.
- Collaborate with network engineers to design and implement network infrastructure improvements.
- Network Security:
- Implement and maintain network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and virtual private networks (VPNs).
- Monitor network traffic for any suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Stay up to date with the latest security threats and implement necessary measures to mitigate risks.
- Web Development and Maintenance:
- Design, develop, and maintain websites and web applications.
- Collaborate with web designers and developers to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end systems.
- Implement and maintain web servers, databases, and related technologies.
- Perform website updates, bug fixes, and content management tasks.
- User Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to end-users regarding network connectivity, web-based applications, and related issues.
- Investigate and resolve hardware and software problems related to computer networks and web systems.
- Assist users with setting up and configuring network devices, such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Document and maintain records of network configurations, system changes, and issue resolutions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify network and web-related requirements and implement appropriate solutions.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and end-users to understand their needs and provide timely support.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in network administration, web development, or a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, security principles, and web technologies.
- Familiarity with network hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Experience with web development frameworks and content management systems (CMS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are a plus.
